Loddon's main streets are lined with two storey terraces finished in brick and pantile. Many of those roofs are steeply pitched and laid in red or black clay pantiles, with a fair bit of variation in the profiles from one run to the next, so matching a broken tile is rarely a case of taking one off the shelf. Holy Trinity, flint faced and dating from 1490, stands over the middle of it all. Loddon is about 12 miles south east of Norwich. The A146 bypass crosses the Chet just outside the town, and downstream the river runs through Loddon Mill and on into Loddon Staithe, with the boatyards on the water at the north end.
